Warband Sisters

Logo sistersThe Sisters of Sigmar is an Order Warband.

Description[ | ]

Flag sisters

The Rock lies in the middle of the River Stir in the southern part of Mordheim. More fortress than convent, the Rock has survived the devastation wrought by the comet and provided a refuge for the Sisters of Sigmar. Branded witches and worse by the broader Cult of Sigmar because of their miraculous deliverance, the Sisters maintain a fervent devotion to their god. They seek to prove themselves and redeem their order by cleansing Mordheim of the many evils that beset it and locking away the tainted wyrdstone where its corruption cannot spread. Armed with faith and warhammer, the Sisters stand ready to oppose all who would defy them.

Gameplay[ | ]

Sisters of Sigmar have a number of strengths that make them a very effective warband on the battlefield. They are generally hard-hitting, all units coming equipped with hammers, maces or flails, and their base toughness levels are fairly good as well which means that in a straight fight Sisters of Sigmar will often come out on top. Their morale levels are also high, making them arguably the hardest faction to rout. And they have the most access to magic out of any warband, with three of their unit types having access to spells.

The Sister henchman unit hits hard even before gaining any experience bonuses. Her passive skill rewards collecting wyrdstone with increasing her movement speed. However, her physical stats are below average, and most of the time, she is going to be in a fight and not collecting wyrdstone.

Novices are not spectacular either, but her passive skill helps her dodge chance after successfully landing a strike. She is physically superior to the Sister, but her below average weapon skill can hold her back.

The Sister Superior is a melee powerhouse of the warband. Her high leadership and weapon skill make her even better at this role. Her starting skill increases an ally's movement range. Sisters Superior are best used in heavy armor with a shield so they can more easily stay in the fight. Like most sisters, a Sister Superior is hampered by her average physical stats.

A Sigmar's Purifier is a devastating opponent to face, especially if she charges into the fray. A Purifier has access to spells, her starting spell is the Comet of Sigmar, meaning she has a way to damage far away enemies from the beginning. Her passive skill breaks dodge and parry stances after a successful charge. Purifiers don't care about being caught alone, but can still fall to Fear and Terror. This also prevents them from disengaging or fleeing, so they fight until the end.

While Augurs lack the strength and toughness of other sisters, they make up for it with being more agile. The second-sight bestowed upon them by sigmar gives them free perception attempts, and makes them easier to perform. This makes her a good scout early on. Augurs also possess superhuman alertness. Her lower weapon skill can hold her back, but her potential in dodging attacks and/or being an obscure opponent can make up for this.

Maidens of Sigmar are the impressive units available to a Sisters of Sigmar warband. She is unique, as she is one of two normal-sized impressives, the only one that can wear heavy armor, and the only one that can loot and interact with objects. A Maiden of Sigmar has above-average physical stats, with surprisingly high agility. Being a spellcaster, she is also highly intelligent. Her starting spell disables enemy spellcasters from casting spells, while her passive skill makes her almost impossible to shoot. Maidens of Sigmar are restricted to heavy armor, so mastering Armour Proficient is a must for a Maiden.

Sigmarite Matriarchs are the leader unit of Sisters of Sigmar. Her starting spell buffs melee damage and critical chance of herself and those around her. Support spells should be considered on a Matriarch. Her devotion to Sigmar is so great that she will stop at almost nothing to cleanse the city of Mordheim, and to rally her sisters to do the very same. Matriarchs are also highly intelligent, due to them being spellcasters. Her only weakness is her average physical stats.

Most of the spells available to the Sisters of Sigmar are support spells, ranging from providing immunity to all-alone, increasing the chance to pass athletic tests, and even healing allies. The warband's main weakness is their complete lack of ranged weapons. This can be detrimental to those who wish for a flexible playstyle. Those who want ranged warriors either have to send a lot of wyrdstone, or hire a Smuggler.
